Key visual for the Monchhichi Exhibition © SEKIGUCHI

With its adorable pacifier pose and trademark freckles, Monchhichi is back for another “Monchhichi Exhibition,” following last year’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

First released by Sekiguchi in 1974, the doll’s groundbreaking design—a plush body paired with vinyl hands, feet, and face—sparked a global craze. Sales outside Paris were paused in 1985, but fan demand led to a triumphant return in 1996. This exhibition revisits 50 years of Monchhichi history, showcasing vintage dolls and rare archival materials. Naturally, commemorative merchandise will also be available for sale.

Changes in Monchhichi’s materials and color palette trace the evolution of everyday culture itself. Beneath the cuteness lies a meticulous design philosophy—Monchhichi is, quite literally, a “sculpture you can touch.”

Now an art icon that transcends the realm of toys, Monchhichi invites you to experience its enduring charm in person.
