Historically, the pursuit of feminine beauty has been a major theme for artists. Italian photographer Guido Argentini, among others, is very popular in LA, Europe, and Tokyo for his highly-sophisticated expression.

The gallery Sho+1 presents a solo exhibition by Guido Argentini, titled “Whisper of Florence” from October 13th to November 11th, 2023.
Guido Argentini started his career as a fine art photographer in 1996. His recent work insists on a narrative fashion by stimulating the viewers’ imagination from various angles while he focuses on a wide range of subject matters.

This exhibition consists of his most major work, titled “Silvereye” to “Private Eyes” and “Reflection” series, and it will be a sort of retrospective show to include some of the outstanding pieces to reflect the beauty of women to a maximum extent.

Born in Florence, Italy, he studied medicine at the University of Florence. At 23 he decided to turn his passion for photography into a profession and started to shoot fashion and beauty.

2003 “SILVEREYE”
Guido Argentini’s first book presented an exquisite series of studio and landscape nudes, a reflection of the artist’s great proposal passion for sculpture and dance.
2005 ”PRIVATE ROOMS”
This second book invited us to take a glimpse into unique ‘feminine universe’.
2007 “REFRECTIONS”
A vast collection of photographs of women looking at themselves in mirrors.
2010 “SHADES OF WOMAN”
Guido began exploring different levels and nuances of the female nature.
2013 ”ARGENTUM”
It is the final collection of Guido Argentini’s silver photographs.
2018 ”EROS”
Guido launched himself in combining landscapes or objects with women in diptych to name it as EROS.

Sho+1 is a contemporary art gallery in Ueno, Tokyo, with a stylish café appearance and an easy-to-enter atmosphere. Ueno is an art town with some of Japan’s leading art galleries and museums.

Sho + 1 was reincarnated as a consequent project of Galerie Sho Contemporary Art in August 2017. The gallery aims to carry out our activity in the concept of pop art by focusing on first-rate works by contemporary masters to superb crops by young and mid-career artists within both unique exhibitions at our gallery space and domestic and international art fairs.

The gallery director has a nearly 40-year career to meet various collectors’ demands, especially with the professional expertise inside of broad-ranging artworks by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. Furthermore, the gallery has released a variety of collaboration projects with both domestic and international photographers such as Helmut Newton, Bettina Rheims, Naoki Kimura, and Mitsuru Sakurai.

The recent adventure goes for an interactive gallery to promote our artists by fluttering into global development as well as to launch multiple projects with those who get involved deeply with the field of fine art.
