PRADA “SATELLITES” by Nicolas Winding Refn and Hideo Kojima – Reverberations of two cutting-edge creators

Prada presents the exhibition “Satellites” conceived by Danish movie director Nicolas Winding Refn with Japanese game creator Hideo Kojima at Prada Aoyama Tokyo from 18 April to 25 August 2025. The project is organized with the support of Fondazione Prada and envisioned by the creative studio byNWR.

This is a rare show in which these two artists, bound by a firm friendship and on the cutting edge of creativity on the world stage, express the universal theme of “human connection” in an installation.

The fifth floor of Prada Aoyama Tokyo is transformed into a meticulously mid-century one-bedroom apartment set. Everyday objects such as a couch, a bed, a lamp and a telephone are installed as if lifted from a bygone era, creating a tangible domestic space that transports visitors into an alternate dimension.

The installation comprises six televisions designed as retro-futuristic spaceships. Their panels are cut open, revealing tricate internal designs of electrical components, wires, and circuit boards. Within these screens, suspended images of Nicolas Winding Refn and Hideo Kojima engage in a deep and contemplative conversation.

The second part of the installation unfolds in the nearby dressing room. Inside, a cassette player sits amid stacks of tapes. The tapes blend sound bites and cinema soundtracks, interwoven with alternate, AI-translated versions of Refn and Kojima’s conversation in various languages.

You can sit on a chair or lie on a bed. Visitors can also participate in the process of the two artists’ exploration in this unique exhibition, which is not to be missed.
